Tomas Dorta

Tomás Dorta

Architect and Designer
Co-founder & CEO, Systèmes Hybridlab

Tomás Dorta has a background as a practitioner architect and designer. His research interests include the design process and co-design using new technologies and the development of new techniques and devices of design in the virtual realm. He obtained his Ph.D. (2001), studying the impact of virtual reality as a visualization tool into the design process. His research has been extensively funded by Canadian’s federal and provincial research grant institutes and published and presented in several international scientific conferences as well as scientific journals. As a design educator, Tomás Dorta joined the School of Design of Université de Montréal in 2003 where he is now full professor. He teaches design research and co-design courses and industrial design studios related to new technologies and design collaboration. Tomás Dorta is the principal designer of Hyve-3D and Co-founder and CEO of Systèmes Hybridlab


Michael Hoffmann

Computer Scientist
Co-founder, Systèmes Hybridlab

Michael Hoffmann is a design-thinking programmer and researcher. He holds his Master of Computer Science from Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (2005) together with a diploma from Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (Germany), where he was engaged as a research assistant and developer on new concepts for human-computer interfaces and the authoring process of immersive 3D environments and virtual reality systems. He joined the Hybridlab in 2009 to contribute with his expertise. Michael Hoffmann has worked on Hyve-3D and it’s precedent Hybrid Ideation Space as the lead programmer.
